Spider Veins

Spider Veins also known as Telengiectasia can be unsightly if it occurs on the and other exposed areas.


They are small dilated vessels and appears due to congenital or acquired reasons. Patients with Rosacea,
pregnancy or who are frequently exposed to the sun or cold are more likely to acquire spider veins.

Those occurring in the legs are due to raised pressure in the veins and may be occupational.

Removal for cosmetic reasons can be carried out by injecting an irritating substance (sclerosant) into the vessel. Safer methods will to use Radiofrequency ablation or laser therapy.
